What is Anything Grid?

Anything Grid is a free daily grid trivia game. Each day a fresh 3x3 grid is published, with three column categories and three row categories. Your goal is to fill every cell with anything that satisfies both the column and row category for that cell.

The grid resets at midnight, and everyone in the world plays the same puzzle on the same day.

Creativity is the point

Anything Grid isn't just about knowing the answer — it's about finding a creative one. Most cells have dozens of valid answers, and the whole point is that different people approach them in entirely different ways. For a cell where Historical meets Change, you could answer French Revolution (a societal change), Halfpenny (old currency change), or Bathing Machine (a historical place to get changed)!

The more creative and unexpected your answer, the better your score. Answers are scored based on how well-known they are in the world, so an obscure or inspired pick scores better than a famous or obvious one. Get creative!

After you finish, you can browse answers other players submitted and see what were the most popular and niche picks. It's one of the best parts of the game, seeing just how many different directions people took to solve the same grid!

How scoring works

The more obscure your answer, the lower your score — and lower is better! Find those deep cuts.

Answers fall into one of seven tiers based on how well-known they are in the world:

See what other players submitted and explore the most popular and most niche answers, along with average scores for every cell. Seeing the spread of what people came up with, from the predictable answers to the deep trivia pulls to the genuinely surprising ideas, is half the fun!

Create a free account to track your streaks, see your score history, revisit every answer you gave for past grids, and browse the archive to catch up on puzzles you missed. Your stats follow you across devices and browsers.

Grids are handcrafted to strike a balance between the obvious and the obscure. The categories are designed so that cells have many valid answers, not just one, so get creative! Past grids are available in the archive if you want to catch up or revisit a favorite puzzle.
